I have read all 3 books of Nadine Millard's Ranford series and am a big fan. Nadine has the ability to write a great story and incorporate laugh out loud humor. Her style of writing is so excellent, that she is on my to-buy-list each time she has a new release. Charles Carrington, Earl of Ransford is the top rake. We met him before, and know he loves the ladies and has no intention of settling for only one. That's why he is puzzled when he can't get Miss Julia Channing out of his mind or the lust for her out of his body. Charles and his mother are living on his estate in rural Ireland, which doesn't stop his debauching ways. The visit of his mother's friend and her companion, Miss Channing, once again brings him in close surroundings her. He had met Miss Channing before and was drawn to her, but denied himself. How will he ever deny his self with her staying under his roof? As his attraction to her grows, she doesn't react to him the way he wants. He is sure she is hiding something. Will he ever break through her tough shell and find out what she is hiding? Will that secret keep them apart?

I love this book and enjoyed laughing at the situations Charles attraction to Julia got him into.

I stumbled upon the first book in this series and loved it and I couldn't wait for more books. This one is my favorite of the three. It made me laugh and cry. I would recommend this book!
I liked it so much I'm reading it again. Couldn't put it down. Looking forward to more of the adventure.
This book had my attention right the way through. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I liked all the characters and the little mystery surrounding the heroine kept me intrigued right to the end. It made me laugh, cry and it was a very romantic clean read.
I enjoyed this entire series. The books are engaging and well written. They are also clean and have an interesting story line. I enjoyed catching up with the characters of the first two novels to see how their lives progress.
Ok. Just wore me out with all the erections every time she ate, smiled, breathed, drank, touched, walked. And then all the erections every time he thought about her.....which was constantly. The erections he had to hide from his valet, mother, and her best friend but enjoyed pulling the heroine up against. The erections when they kissed! Wore me out with the pages of "we are so attracted to each other" to immediately transforming themselves into "I'm just going to turn it into a joke and stay away from you". The usual formula. However, it's ok.

I loved this book. I love the way relationships are explored, and all the decency that is in the forefront in historical romances. I also absolutely loved reading the thoughts that pass through Julia's and Lord Ranford's minds while they're tiptoeing around each other, working to discover if the other holds similar feelings.

Julia joins this high society family as a companion to the dowager, and is never once made to feel as an employee, but rather a part of the family. It is through this family that she becomes the sparkle in Lord Ranford's wandering eye. Ranford is new to this Lord business after the passing of his father. He was rather enjoying a life of debauchery before it all came to a quick standstill and responsibility kicked in. Julia is a mystery to all, she never speaks much about her family, or her past, but after a ball that takes place at Ranford house, it all comes spilling out when her father decides to make his way into play.

Reading this, I felt as if I was a fly on the wall watching it all coming together. Other than a few grammatical errors that caught my eye, I will say this is one I will come back to reading time and time again. It's classic, well-thought out, and wonderfully written.

I very much enjoyed this third Ranford series book by Nadine Millard. She had written this with full brilliance and full grasp of historical romance. I couldn't be happier to add this to my collection this year.

We meet Charles, "The Wicked Earl" of Ranford. Once a rake, he didn't want to give his heart to anyone anymore. He promised himself, until of course he meets Miss Julia Channing again, an untitled companion of the dowager. Julia has a past that no one knows even her employer and she wished to keep it that way.

"There was an air of vulnerability about her that tried desperately to tug at his heartstrings, but he refused to let it. His heartstrings would remain untugged by any woman ever again, he reminded himself fiercely."

I was like, "Famous last words, Charles. Famous last words."

The bickering and teasing between Julia and Charles were very entertaining it always make me laugh. That is one of the characteristics I always like with Nadine's books, she entertains. The jealousy, that was Mr. Trent, was the one I enjoyed the most. I liked that Charles has developed his feelings for Julia eventually and nonchalantly displayed his utter jealousy and dislike of the vicar. Again, it was very entertaining to read.

Charles, through Nadine words, had completely taken my heart. He was very romantic, poetic and my heart could not contain the romance anymore. With his every word, my heart felt like it wanted to get out of my chest.

"You have been driving slowly mad since the first time I saw you, so that is nothing new."

With Julia's past coming back at her in the present, Charles' trust had been tested once again. The mystery that played in this book kept me glued and excited to what will happen next. I really liked the part where Julia's past has caught up with her and everyone, including Caroline, Rebecca etc, had stepped out to protect her. And Charles of course.

"I am your protector," he said softly, one hand wrapping around her waist, the other moving to remove leaves and twigs from her hair. "I am your knight. I would kill with my bare hands any man who dared to touch you without your consent. I would go to the ends of the earth for you. I WOULD SLAY DRAGONS FOR YOU."

If the above wasn't enough to convince you to read this book, I don't know what will. Charles, sigh.

Pure romance with a touch of mystery, Mysterious Miss Channing is a highly recommended book. If you haven't read any regency book in the past, this book is a perfect start!
