In this chilling contemporary thriller an inspired supernatural undertone sets the scene for a hauntingly unforgettable reading experience of enlightenment! Secrets of the past are blended together; from 19th Century London with notorious Jack The Ripper to ancient China during the Han dynasty. The delicately interwoven narrative is wonderfully complex and detailed; so as to keep you guessing throughout and on tenterhooks as to what more shocking revelations may unfold. Entwined within a labyrinth of character-studies that cleverly interconnected, I was sucked into a scintillating story of substance and deep philosophical wonderment. The scope of the plot is vast and visually `epic' as though imagined for the big screen!

I felt like this novel was a mixture of modern, 21st Century super-sleuth SHERLOCK and "The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" (with hidden clues and perplexing puzzles) all wrapped up into one addictive masterwork. Lindahl's unique perspective opens up such possibilities and really allows you as a reader to personally place yourself within the plot, thus you're left feeling enlightened and in awe. White Horse Regressions mixes together murder and kidnapping with mystery, contemporary crime and a supremely singular study on reincarnation. It is a book that gives a different outlook on death and which really `gets under the skin' of the cast of interesting characters. Spinechilling suspense and tension build up to a climatic, startling conclusion that will leave an impression impregnated upon the mind...

Themes such as vulnerability, power, invincibility and truth are all explored in this deep novel that contains a concoction of genre and sub-plots. I was most impressed by this rather remarkable, original novel *which I won through a Goodreads, first-read giveaway.
Past life regressions flourish in Steve Lindahl’s second book in the Glen Wiley Past Lives series. This time the reader meets a number of characters, some already dead and some fated to be so in the course of the novel. We learn from the Prologue of the murder of a young actress, whose friends subsequently team up to learn why she was killed, as the story opens. An expert on the process of regressing clients to their former lives, Glen Wiley is called upon to help discover the mystery of why Paige Stackman is killed. Once into the story, however, another actress, Jamie, is discovered dead. Her child, Starr, and husband, Stuart, become essential to the discovery of a wider plot of intrigue having to do with past murders and ancient artifacts. Stuart becomes more deeply involved, cooperating with smugglers in order to protect his child from their threats of danger.
The plot gathers the main characters into regressions which take them to the dark side of life in Victorian England and then to ancient China during the Ming dynasty. Glen teaches some of them how to join him in performing regressions, and the story gathers a number of characters both in this present life as well as in their former lives, in efforts to put an end to the violence that shadows them throughout their lives. In each time period a white horse is featured as a successful way to connect the variety of times and customs. Lindahl has succeeded in keeping the central figures together throughout their many lives together, a difficult task to carry off well, avoiding what could have been a tangle of confusing identities for the reader to sort out. There is suspense, action, mystery in a novel that doesn’t let the reader down but provides a conclusion that teaches us that “There are no permanent goodbyes. The human soul is eternal.”

“White Horse Regressions” takes a different tack to a mystery story. It seems that people who kill and people who get killed play this game not only in the here and now, but in past lives over centuries. Consequently, if you want to solve these kinds of murders, your best chance is to find a way to examine the past lives of the participants. This is what the author does very successfully. He has created a fascinating tale with twists and turns worthy of the best books in the genre, but with his special twist of past lives. I recommend this book.
I loved the book. Steve was able to let me get comfortable with a character just to have the rug pulled. It was a fascinating read, but that’s no surprise..it was classic Steve Lindahl.
